The San Lucas Tolimán Mission provides a Christian ministry to the people in the municipality of San Lucas, meeting their spiritual, physical and emotional needs. In Guatemala, 80% of the land is owned by 2% of the people and often families are forced to work on large plantations. Juan Ana Café provides an alternative to those families, by encouraging them to farm their own fields and participate in a grower’s cooperative that assures fair pricing for their coffee. Juan Ana Café is committed to supporting local independent farms near Lake Atitlan, Guatemala where the stewards of the land use 150-year old Mayan growing methods. The hand-picked, washed, dried, and roasted beans are processed and packaged by local families.
Trade Palms began purchasing and selling Juan Ana Café as a means to fundraise for the organization and raise awareness of the issues that face struggling coffee farmers in Guatemala. In addition to supporting coffee growing families, the San Lucas Mission continues its ministry in the area of San Lucas Tolimán.
