Berta Pich and Aroldo Jacinto
Type of Project: Loan
Request: Loan to purchase a motor taxi
Location(s): San Lucas Tolimán, Solola, Guatemala
Recipients: Berta Pich & Aroldo Jacinto
Berta and Aroldo have a strong sense of family and believe in keeping the family unit together. Berta is a homemaker who occasionally sells produce from her garden and various items she weaves together. Her husband, Aroldo, is a mason and previous successful Trade Palms loan recipient.
Steady employment opportunities can be hard to come by for Aroldo in his masonry field. The alternative for him is to find work in Guatemala City over two hours away. In order to keep the family together, however, Berta and Aroldo have asked Trade Palms for a loan to purchase a motor taxi which would be used to transport people within their community. This purchase allows them to continue to engage in and serve the short-term mission organization Transformational Journeys. It also affords them occasions to bless their community and church in assisting people in need.
