Maria Francisca Mejia

Type of Project: Loan
Request: Loan to purchase equipment to make embroidered products
Location(s): San Lucas Toliman, Solola, Guatemala
Recipient: Maria Francisca Julajuj Mejia

Maria Francisca is a single mother of three. She is employed as a bookkeeping teacher at a local school. This income is suitable for living, however, Maria Francisca felt as though she’d like to use her gift of embroidery to pursue additional income. She partnered with her sisters (Florinda and Ana María who are also Trade Palms loan recipients) to make this dream a reality.

She purchased all the necessary raw materials with her Trade Palms loan in order to make and embroider table cloths, blouses, pillowcases, belts, sashes, and games for kids.

Maria Francisca began this project in 2010 and continues to be successful today.
